A new significant Comenius project, part of the Lifelong Learning Program aimed at all levels of school education, started in PGEE "Kaptain Petko Voyvoda", Kardzhali, Bulgaria.

The project entitled "Learning to Live Healthy" is a part of the activity "International Partnerships" and is funded by Comenius at a value of 20,000 Euros for a period of two years. The partners of PGEE "Kaptain Petko Voyvoda" are schools from 8 countries: Austria, Germany, Estonia, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Turkey. The working language is German.

The project objective is to seek another opportunity for the school environment to be perceived by students as their desired territory. Through engaging in local activities and activities with their peers from other partner countries, they will reach the main products that are provided: The project Logo is Green Class 2012 and Comenius school.

The topics covering the project activities are provoking the students to think in interesting ways about how to combine work with pleasure: health and sports, health and healthy nutrition, health and culture, violence prevention, students’ rights and obligations in the state, health and nature, health and family habits, healthy activities in work and leisure, health and the Internet.

What are the benefits to the students of this project? They are significant because they provide many opportunities for youth to learn about their peers from different countries, their lifestyle and habits while communicating among themselves in German or English. Familiarization with the regional culture of the partners with healthy living through various areas (sports, nutrition, leisure, work, prevention, addictions) will enrich young people. In the implementation of activities purely human contacts will be created and the students will be able to spend their free time active, will learning about fair-play.

Teachers, who will work with students, will be able to achieve a new kind of experience, be familiar with specific methods and systems to solve problems with their students, and also increase the level of their language competence.

All this will benefit the school, making it attractive on the existing education market.

There are also benefits for the city and our region, because the expected tourist flow in May 2012, when all eight partner schools will visit Kardzhali and will be guests of PGEE, will make the best advertisement for our country, city and region for all of us.

ONE MORE SUCCESSFUL PROJECT FOR PGEE

For the fourth consecutive year 20 students from PGEE hold their training in Spain within the project “Intelligent energy – resources and technologies”. The project was directed at acquiring practical skills and techniques in the use of innovative energy technologies. Electricity consumption by humans increases with each passing year. Producing clean energy has become a major policy goal in Europe. This requires training of cadres with appropriate qualifications. Spain is a leading country in Europe in the production of electricity from renewable sources and therefore we have chosen a Spanish partner in this project.

The main objectives of the project:

- Assisting students in learning to absorb and apply new knowledge, skills and qualifications to support their personal development.

- Improving the quality of vocational training and employability for participation in the European market.

- Promoting mobility and increasing the attractiveness of vocational education.

- Introducing European standards of quality.

- Enriching language skills for improving intercultural dialogue and finding other values, beliefs and behaviours.

- Increasing knowledge of the culture, lifestyle and traditions of other European countries.

- Building citizenship in Europe on issues related to global warming and ecological use of natural resources.

As a result of the practice students acquired new knowledge and skills to support their personal and professional development, increased their mobility and established the citizenship of Europe on issues related to global warming and ecological use of natural resources, increased their knowledge of the culture, lifestyle and traditions of other European countries, enriched their language skills. They met friends and created lifelong relationships.

THE TEACHERS OF PGEE WITH A SUCCESSFUL PROJECT AGAIN

Ten teachers from PGEE have visited the vocational school Reichspräsident-Friedrich-Ebert in Fritzlar, Germany for the second time. There they were received as old friends and partners. The visit was within the project "Vocational training and renewable sources of energy - exchange of ideas and experiences”. The hosts provided a various program, including a presentation of vocational education in Germany and Bulgaria and a visit to the training facilities in the vocational school in Fritzlar. There was also a discussion about what the guests have observed along with introduction of the national core curriculum in Germany, Hessen province, under the theme of "Renewable Energy sources ". The Bulgarian teachers have also had the opportunity to visit the wind farm and solar park, WPP (EON Ederzee), the vocational training centre in the WPP as well as the manufacturing unit for practical training. The teachers with interest examined the local industrial plant "Inverter" in the city of Kassel. Impressed by the vocational training centres in the plant and the manufacturing sector for practical training, they participated in the evaluation of student projects in the field of renewable energy sources.
   As a result of collaboration with colleagues from Germany, our specialists have learned new skills and competencies in the use of European experience and innovation in the vocational training. It was particularly useful for them to acquaint with the German experience in vocational education and renewable energy.
   Reichspräsident-Friedrich-Ebert school is a vocational school for training students in the following specialities: electrical engineering, metallurgy, construction, woodworking, economics and administration, feeding (nutrition) and household agrotechnics, mechanical engineering, interior design, data processing, information technology. The projects within the Comenius program in Finland, Cyprus and Czech Republic were also implemented in Reichspräsident-Friedrich-Ebert-Schule. Partnership events in the form of students exchange with Lakeshore College, Cleveland, Wisconsin, USA, were also carried out. Reichspräsident-Friedrich-Ebert-Schule has been a partner with the Vocational School “Kapitan Petko voyvoda” for the second time.
   The first project entitled "Partnership in Education" in 2008 has been awarded by the Human Resources Development Centre with Quality certificate.

TheVocational School of Electrical Engineering and Electronics “Kapitan Petko Vojvoda” has been awarded a Quality certificate for the project “Partnership in Education”, which was realized in 2008.

The deputy minister for Education, Youth and Science attended the conference for Adult Education in Bulgaria where she presented the award of Lifelong Learning Programme".

The event was held on the 10.12.2010 as a celebration of the 10^thanniversary of sector program Grundtvig. The event was organized by the Human Resources Development Centre. In her speech Mrs. Evtimova outlined the main priorities in the field of adult education.

The conference was attended by Mrs. Helene Barry, representative of the Implementing Agency of Education, Audiovision and Culture - Brussels, who presented the policy development in Adult education in the context of strategy Europe 2020, and also the combined activities on the section programme called Grundtvig.

Mr. Stoyan Baev, a representative of the National Statistical Institute and consultant for Refernet network Bulgaria, presented the results of the national statistical survey on "Adult Education in Bulgaria".

The official ceremony of awarding certificates was also included during the function. Certificates were awarded for the quality of the completed projects of European section programmes Grundtvig and Leonardo da Vinci. Some schools and kindergartens, winners of the competition for the best website "My school online - a window to Europe”, were also awarded.

We acknowledge that our website is currently one of the top 10 in this competition.

The project award of PGEE is for exchange of specialists in vocational training.

Ten teachers from PGEE participated in the project where they visited Fritzlar, Germany from 27.03.2009 to 02.04.2009. The host organization was "Reichspräsident-Friedrich-Ebert-Schule Fritzlar.

The project has close and regular contacts with the partner organizations and are continuing to work together to form an ideal working relationship.

The traditional Days of programs Comenius and eTwinning in Bulgaria were held from December 6th to 8th . The workshop took place in Sofia under the form of a forum.The latest issues in education and the suitable solutions to these problems were also discussed.
During the event the assistants within the program Comenius (4of them in Bulgaria, including our colleague Marcus Ulbricht) had the opportunity to share information about their assistantships at the host institutions. The projects and partnerships in Comenius 2009, awarded to the overall quality realization, were also presented. European CNC-Network and the project of our friends from PTG “Dr. N. Vasiliadi”, Gabrovo - "Train for Europe ", were among them .

MARCUS ULBRICHT – THE NEW GERMAN ASSISTANT

LIFELONG LEARNING PROGRAMME - COMENIUS ASSISTANTSHIPS

Mr. Markus Ulbricht, teaching assistant of German language, arrived in PGEE at the end of September 2010. Mr Ulbricht’s residence in Kardzhali is within the Sector Programme Comenius assistantship. The purpose of the programme is to motivate students to learn German and to improve their language skills. Mr. Ulbricht will also participate in extra curricular activities for the pupils of our vocational school.

In their interaction with the assistant, the teachers from PGEE gain valuable knowledge about the German education system and exchange ideas on different teaching methods and innovative techniques.

Marcus comes from the beautiful town of Jena, a large university town in Thuringia, Germany. He is studying History and Latin at Leipzig University to become a qualified teacher. His position with PGEE Kardzhali, Bulgaria, is working within the Comenius Programme which is a good opportunity for him to get accustomed to a different type of system used for teacher training as well as to gain experience within the profession.

PGEE and leading enterprises in Kardzhali successfully concluded the second project under the Operational Programme "Human Resources"

Project "Collaboration in the education" was created to raise the level of vocational education in the Vocational School of Electrical Engineering and Electronics in accordance with the requirements of the modern labor market and business.

It was realized with financial support from the Operational Program "Human Resources Development” 2007-2013, financed by the European Social Fund of the European Union. It’s worth is 57 928, 58 EUR.

The aim was to enable the students from PGEE to obtain the quality of vocational training based on knowledge acquired in a real working environment.

The project was led by the Vocational School of Electrical Engineering and Electronics “Kapitan Petko voyvoda” and developed with the support of the largest enterprises in Kardzhali District - GORUBSO-KURDZHALI JSC, FORMOPLAST JSC, PNEUMATICS-CERTA JSC, EL CONSTRUCTION Ltd., S & B Industrial MINERALS JSC.

Practical training of 60 students from PGEE was held in a real working environment and was implemented in the five enterprises.

Five teachers were trained to work with modern equipment in the partner enterprises. Curricula were created to introduce the pupils to the technology and equipment used in the partner-organizations.

The project has led to an improvement in initial professional skills of our students. Acquired practical skills in real working conditions will facilitate the integration and smooth transition from school to work.

A survey conducted among the students showed that for 78% of them the acquirement of practical experience is a major advantage in education under the project. For 68% of them the project was very useful. The ability to work in a team is a leading knowledge acquired during the practice for 52% of the students.

Cooperation between school and employers meet the requirements of the European union labor market for building an economy based on knowledge and strengthens established links. This can lead to a multiplication of project activities.

For the third year the students of the Electronics held a practical training in Spain within the project "Spanish experience in modern energy technologies." Due to the excellent professional relationship established between the host ASOCIACIÓN AMIGOS DE EUROPA LEONARDO DA VINCI and PGEE this project is long-term collaboration .

Renewable and alternative energy resources are an important factor in ecology and environmental protection. European countries focus their efforts on application, development and maintenance of environmental technologies for the generation of electricity. Spain is one of the leading countries in this area.

In order to keep pace with modern technologies and new aspects of energy our school is working on projects related to renewable sources of electricity. "Spanish experience in modern energy technologies" was a project aimed at young people aged 17-18 years, undergoing initial vocational training in the fields of Electrical Engineering and Electronics and Automation. The target group consistted of 20 students from PGEE.

The project was developed in line with the objectives of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union. Its purpose is to enhance the quality of vocational education and training to encourage the use of innovative techniques and to disseminate best practices of professional trainings in Europe through transnational cooperation and experience. As a result of the placement our students acquired new knowledge and skills in support of their professional and personal development, they increased their mobility and built citizenship in environmental issues in Europe. At the same time they enhanced their language training, practical knowledge and techniques and gained useful experience from visiting the host country.

The practice was held in Jeres,Seville and Malaga - Andalucia, Spain, through the organization ASOCIACIÓN AMIGOS DE EUROPA LEONARDO DA VINCI. Students from the PGEE have been also in Andalucia the previous two years . Installations for the production of alternative energy are mainly located in this area because of its geographical features.

The project was implemented in July 2010 for a period of three weeks. During this training-time the students visited a plant for the production of wind power, a wind farm, a plant for the generation of photovoltaic systems, and they were be introduced to the electricity generation from biofuels.

25th anniversary

Тhe holiday of PGEE was celebrated with a gala concert at the House of Culture on the 28th april. The governor of the District of Kardzhali, chief of the Rio MOMN, representative of the Economic Chamber, directors of schools in the Kardzhali region, former teachers in PGEE, students and parents respected us. We celebrated our 25th anniversary with songs, dances, birthday cake and fireworks.

We have received many congratulatory letters from our friends. We give heartfelt thanks to all of our partners who became part of our holiday with their kind words and congratulations. They were put on prominent display and all visitors could read about our fruitful cooperation. We hope that it will continue in the future.

25 years PGEE

For а lifetime 25 years are years in which to begin to enter into adulthood, but for one school they are more than enough. Years of hard work, the successes and the conquest as a school, brought up young people able to take their place in society. The holiday was the occasion for stocktaking. Looking back, our team decided to show projects, which took place in PGEE before 2008 and were the first steps in working on projects and they brought much needed experience in promoting our school as experienced in the most projects in the municipality of Kardjali in recent years.

On 7, 8 and 9.04.2010g. a Professional seminar of the eTwinning ambassadors for Bulgaria was held in Troyan, organized by the Human Resource Development Center. Antoaneta Sendova, one of the eight eTwinning ambassadors for Bulgaria participated in the workshop.Topics that were discussed refer to the educational environment that ensures eTwinning virtual space. Тhe planned management of online projects was discussed. The focus was on development of a new type of virtual communication and teaching an integrated curriculum. Another center of discussion was the work of eTwinning projects as a means and method to increase motivation in language learning. Daily difficulties encountered by Bulgarian ambassadors, multipliers and moderators were discussed. Ambassadors talked about the possibilities of overcoming obstacles. Again, particular attention was paid to the content, aims and opportunities for training of teachers through the program of the European Commission “Study visits”. Some new opportunities of the TwinSpace. (Working Area of the European electronic portal partnership between schools) were presented.

THE U.S. AMBASSADOR IMPRESSED BY THE STUDENTS OF THE ELECTRONICS

During his visit to Kardjali on February 26th the U.S. Ambassador James Warlick visited PGEE Kapitan Petko Voyvoda. The long-awaited guest arrived at one thirty in our school and was welcomed by an old tradition, with bread and salt. The meeting was jointly organized by the Peace Corps because in PGEE, for the third year already, a Peace Corps volunteer, Jeff Warner, is working as a teacher of English language . In the lobby of the school pupils and teachers from the vocational Kardzhali School welcomed their prominent guest. To welcome him, the Director of PGEE greeted the Ambassador with a few words and presented the school, which he manages. In his speech he accented the 25-year history of the vocational high school and modern specialties in which students are training. "We're the school with the most international projects and we aim not only at knowledge, but to prepare our students for a world without borders." - proudly noted Mr. Kushlev, director of PGEE.

"For the first time I am out of Sofia and decided to visit Kardzhali, and your school is the first Bulgarian school, which I will see. I expect to talk to as many students and teachers, as I can"- said the Ambassador in response to the welcome . He looked with pleasure at the video showing the work of the American volunteer in PGEE and eagerly went to the classroom, in which was held an open lesson with students in grade 10b in the specialty Computer techniques and technologies and with intensive English language learning. The boys and their teacher Jeff Warner had prepared two presentations about their school and home town, which they presented to the important guest in English. The free conversation of Ambassador Warlick with the students continued more than an hour. He was interested in anything that excites the boys of their age: how they spend their free time, do they like their school, what marks they receive, what they want to become. He commended them for choosing to study in this school, because computer technologies is the most modern and fastest growing field, and having the techniques and a command of English language will help them realize their ambitions not only in Bulgaria, but in the rest of the world if they so choose. The future computer specialists answered questions without embarrassment and shared with the Ambassador even what music they like and what are their favorite computer games, which earned a special praise from Mr. Warlick for a good knowledge of the language. He was particularly impressed by the dialogue with the student from grade 10b Georgi Hristov.

When he left the classroom, the Ambassador was shown three small cars running on elecric energy made by the students, which were mentioned in the student's school presentation. To everyone's surprise, the ambassador jumped into one of the cars and drove it down the hallway.

The meeting continued in the teacher’s room where the Ambassador spoke with the teachers from PGEE. The director, Mr. Kushlev, presented the Head of the District Inspectorate of Education Mrs. Emilia Vladeva, who shared her pleasure to be with the colleagues in this important moment for them.

In his brief address to the teachers, the Ambassador explained that he chose the city because of our multi-ethnic environment in which we live peacefully. He thanked them for the opportunity to talk with the students, thanked all teachers for their commitment and shared that he acknowledges what a difficult but important task it is to be a teacher. He was impressed by the work of the professionals in PGEE with the children in the school.

Valorization conference of the "Lifelong Learning Program"

10 YEARS OF THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT CENTER

For the 10 year anniversary celebrating the creation of the Human Resource Development Center, on the 18th of December, 2009 at the Sheraton Hotel, Sofia, the first valorization conference of the European "Lifelong Learning program" was held. Sectoral programs were presented in the programs: Comenius for school education, Erasmus for higher education, Leonardo da Vinci for vocational education and training and Grundtvig - adult education. Teachers and principals of schools with winning projects were invited to the conference. Eng. P. Kouchlev, director of PGEE and eng. A. Sendova, head of one of the winning projects, attended from our school.

During the conference, high quality completed projects under the European sectoral program Leonardo da Vinci, supporting vocational education and training in Bulgaria, were recognized. Excellent projects from the sectoral European program Comenius and Bulgarian ambassadors to the European community of teachers eTwinning were presented as well. They are eight in number: Rosica Dimova, Regional Inspectorate of Education - city Sofia, Christina Baeva, Regional Inspectorate of Education - Shoumen, Elena Lazarova from the National Institute for Training Directors, Bankya, Antoaneta Sendova from PGEE “Kapitan Petko Voyvoda”, Kardzhali, Gorica Lazarova from the school "Brothers Peter and Ivan Kanazirevi”, Razlog, Eugenia Tzvetanova from Kindergarten 25" Brothers Grimm ", Shoumen, Svetlana Varbanova of FBS”Vasil Levski”, Dobrich, Theodora Valova, High School Foreign Languages, Pleven.

In the event students and teachers presented their talents and skills acquired and developed through their participation in European educational programs.

Thanks to the activities of Bulgarian eTwinning ambassadors, more schools in the country are turning to the use of the system not only as a platform for communication, but also as a basis for starting the projects funded under the “Lifelong Learning Program".

Our Vocational School was awarded for the project "ICT in Electrical drawing ..." led by eng.Antoaneta Sendova. The award was presented by Deputy Minister of Education Mrs. Lomeva and Director of the HRDC Mrs. Gabova.

Under the project "Collaboration in education" 60 students from 11th and 12th grade from PGEE will have the opportunity to work in five of the largest companies in the Kardzhali region - GORUBSO-KARDJALI JSC, FORMOPLAST JSC, PNEUMATICS-CERTA JSC, EL CONSTRUCTION LTD, S&B INDUSTRIAL MINERALS JSC, all of which are partners of our vocational school.

For this work under the project the students will receive a salary of 480lv and certificates of the training provided.

The project is funded with the support of the Operational Program "Human Resources Development" 2007-2013, financed by the European Social Fund of the European Union, and is to the value of 57 928.58 Euro. The project aim is to achieve higher levels of quality and innovation in vocational education and training for competitiveness in the European market, and to create sustainable links between education, training and business. Classes will be held simultaneously in all enterprises. Practical training for each student will continue in the firms for 30 working days.

PGEE PARTICIPATED IN A PRESTIGIOUS FORUM

On 8-10 December in Bourgas the "Days of Comenius in Bulgaria" was held. The event was organized by the Human Resource Development Center. Our vocational school received a special invitation. In order to present our successful practice in this program, Mr. Petko Kushlev, director of PGEE Kapitan Petko voyvoda, and Mrs. Margarita Stamova, deputy director and coordinator of the project traveled to this seaside town. In his presentation entitled: Activity Assistantship , Mr. Kushlev explained about Assistant Anita Laube, a teacher from Germany, who was teaching German in PGEE during last school year.

Directors of schools from Sofia, Stara Zagora, Blagoevgrad, Bourgas, Dobrich, Veliko Tarnovo, Varna, Vratsa, took part in this prestigious event. There they exchanged ideas and experience useful for future cooperation.

COMENIUS ASSISTANTSHIPS 2008

For the period October 2008 - June 2009 PGEE received an Assistant teacher of German language in line with the Sectoral program Comenius. Anita Laube worked in our school as an assistant teacher of German. She conducted formal and informal meetings with students and teachers, allowing them to get a feel for German to learn about the German education system, method and manner of teaching through direct contact with a representative of the country. Moreover, Ms. Laube was involved in the translation of documents and cooperated in the development and implementation of projects under EU programs.

During her stay she took lessons in Bulgarian, and in cooperation with a volunteer from the Peace Corps, working in PGEE, improved her language skills in English.

As a result of active work of assistants in the German language classes and organized extracurricular time courses in German, the level of language competence and motivation of students increased considerably.

During the school year 2007/2008, in line with the common project of PGEE and the United States Peace Corps, a Peace Corps volunteer arrived in our school. For a third year Jeffery Warner is teaching English language courses for children and adults in the United Children's Complex(ODK), Kardzhali, and participates in cultural and free time activities for children in the city.

The aim of this project is to improve language skills and communicative abilities of students from PGEE. Also by co-teaching with teachers of English and working in extracurricular and informal discussions, Mr. Warner assists in the development of language skills of teachers and students from PGEE, to exchange forms and training methods, ideas for extracurricular forms related to personal and civic development of students and, last but not least, to familiarize teachers and students with the education system of the United States and American culture and way of life in accordance with the goals of the Peace Corps.
The volunteer was given residence in the dormitory of PGEE directly next to the school building.

At the beginning of the stay of Mr. Warner in Bulgaria our school provided a counterpart, an employee at the school who speaks English, who supports his activities and integration in the school and local community. But for an amazingly short time Jeff entered in the details of the Bulgarian language, which helped him to become a beloved teacher and create many friendships.

"IN MY SCHOOL - WITH MY FRIENDS” - THE PROJECT, WHICH ENGAGED MOST PARTICIPANTS FROM PGEE

In 2008 started the project "In my school - with my friends." The aim of this project was to create an attractive image of school life and conditions for successful social realization of the students, to create in them a sense of belonging to the school and its traditions and especially to organize their free time through various forms of extracurricular training. In the project the opportunity for personal expression and development of potential and talent of each student was given.

The objectives of the project corresponded with the objectives of the Operational Program "Human Resources Development”, and in particular those of the priority directive "Improving access to education and training”. They were directed to absorb and use knowledge and skills in order to enhance individual development and growth of students, and the ability to work as a team in research and innovation. Achieving these goals made school life richer, fuller and more attractive, and gave direction to the leisure time of students.

The project also developed the following activities:

• Strengthening and modernization of school traditions and developing a system for rewarding and morally stimulating talented students. Forming the representative group of the school.

• Work on a Youth Media Center, which includes the issuance of the electronic newspaper of the school, organization of thematic photographic competitions, development of advertising materials for the school - brochures, videos, flyers, and more.

• Work in the Young constructor club, who also worked in three little cars, driven by energy saving sources of energy (a wind generator and a photovoltaic system). Bike racks for the students use were built.

Students joined with enormous desire in the implementation of this project: 153 pupils and 20 teachers were engaged during the school year.

At first direction Develop scenarios to celebrate national holidays and school celebrations colleagues engaged in this activity, together with representatives from the students board, and they prepared scenarios to celebrate the patron holiday, and all other school holidays.
For the first time, and this was especially interesting for young people, a training drill for the representative group of the school was held. After the participants were selected special uniforms were made for them, which they received from the Director during a special celebration. The uniforms emblem is the logo of the school and of this project.
The Pedagogy Board officially approved the System for rewarding and moral stimulation of outstanding students.

In Youth Media Center a group of 20 students worked on the issue of the school electronic newspaper «Integral», which was released in 9 issues, reflecting actual events in the life of the school, the city and also national level initiatives.

In this direction photo and video clubs worked as well. Students and their teachers organized a photographic exhibition entitled "My Town - a modern European city," "Holidays through my lens" and "Life in the school through photographs and collages”. To prepare for the third exhibition students familiarized themselves with programs for making collages.

Club “e-TV" made a video devoted to the Patron holiday, issued a newspaper "ETV", devoted to 164 - anniversary of the born of Kapitan Petko voyvoda (the school patron) and finished an animated video about the life of a hero.

Interesting for students was working on the development of advertising materials for the school.

Work in the club "Young constructor” was separated into five groups. In each of them students are familiarized with the use of alternative energy sources and opportunities for saving electricity, with normative basis for energy efficiency in Bulgaria and the European Union. They prepared the models of:

"Solar installation";
"Solar car (with electric properties drive and accumulator);
"Ecobell;
"Wind Turbine",

also they helped to build racks for bicycles in front of the school.
On 30 May 2009 in the courtyard of the school a competition between models of cars made by groups working in the club "Young constructor” was held . Rounds were held for the fastest and most durable model. At the end of the race the most attractive little car was declared .
All participants in different activities and groups received certificates for participation in the project.
On 13 and 14 June 2009 a trip to Varna for a pilgrimage to the grave of Kaptain Petko voyvoda was held. In the tour students from a representative group and outstanding participants from the other working groups of the project were included. The selection was made by the heads of criteria prepared in advance.
Successful completion of the project is a step towards personal development of students, it gave properties a meaning to their free time and allowed them to generate new knowledge and techniques that make them more adaptable to developments in their education, and consequently in the professional field of their realization. Participation of students in project activities changed their idea about the school and made it a desirable area.

PGEE and leading companies in Kardzhali successfully concluded project in line with the Operational Program Human Resources Development

Within the project "EDUCATION THROUGH ACTION" 60 students from 11th and 12th grade in PGEE worked in the five largest companies in Kardzhali District: GORUBSO-KURDZHALI JSC, FORMOPLAST JSC, PNEUMATICS-CERTA JSC, EL CONSTRUCTION Ltd., LEAD&ZINC KOMPLEX KARDZHALI, which were partners of the vocational school.
The project was realized with financial support from the Operational Program "Human Resources Development" 2007-2013, financed by the European Social Fund of the European Union. The project's aim was to achieve higher levels of quality and innovation in vocational education and training for competitiveness in the European market and to create sustainable links between education, training and business.

In GORUBSO-KARDJALI JSC students had the opportunity to work on a contemporary installation for processing gold ores also in Electro erecting workshop of the enterprise. They were familiarized with the repair of electric motors and transformers, they were familiarized with the repair of electric motors and transformers, have gained habits and skills necessary for their future realization.

In FORMOPLAST JSC students assimilated knowledge for principles of action of contemporary systems for control of electric motors and participated in the disassembly and assembly of electric motors and troubleshooting in electronic parts.

In PNEUMATICS-CERTA JSC trainees from the specialty “Industrial electronics” are acquainted with modern lathes with CNC and participated in programming and setup of programming lathes. They were manufacturing hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders.

The work of students of specialty “Electrics of industry " in EL CONSTRUCTION Ltd is a good basis for future realization on the labor market. Construction of transformer substations and placement of aerial power lines contributed to the implementation of learned in lessons in class. So was built a close relationship between theory and practice.

In LEAD&ZINC KOMPLEX KARDZHALI students of specialty Automation of continuous production observed and repaired contemporary automated production lines for lead, zinc, alloys and chemical products.

Conference was carrying out to account for the result of the project and awarding with certificates of training to students.

Project "Europe inspires!" in line with the program Leonardo da Vinci

In the frame of the project "Europe inspires!" Vocational School of Electrical engineering and Electronics “Kapitan Petko Voyvoda” again participated as a host organization. The team of PGEE received for a week Lazovskis Janis, a teacher from Ogre Vocational Secondary school, Latvia. Under the program, Mr. Lazovskis visited classes in vocational subjects in our school, and also Hydro Power Plant - Kardjali and ITW - company for production of packaging machines. Together with a group of students from Latvia, visiting on the project "I know I can I do", he enjoyed the sight of Kardjali dam, visited the Observatory and the Historical Museum. He took a short course in Bulgarian language. The beneficiary participated in a seminar on the project "Partnership in education" which was organized by PGEE. The objectives of the visit of the Latvian teacher in this project were to acquaint with the educational system in Bulgaria, the methods and forms of teaching and use of media in the educational process, and some educational aspects of teaching. By participating in the project, he gained new knowledge and skills in his professional field, acquainted with different educational systems, methods and concepts of teaching, culture and lifestyle of another European country, improved his language skills in Bulgarian language and created personal and professional contacts with people from Bulgaria, who work in similar professional fields. The exchange was successful and useful for both organizations.

Within the project "I know I can I do" Vocational School of Electrical engineering and Electronics "Kapitan Petko Voyvoda" participated for the first time as a host organization, receiving three students and one teacher from Ogre Vocational Secondary school, Latvia for two weeks in April 2009 year in Kardzhali. According to the program they visited classes in Electrical engineering, Electronics and Information Technology. Students from Latvia worked together with their Bulgarian hosts in the Youth Media Center in PGEE. They visited leading enterprises in the town of Kardzhali: “Monek ug”, Hydro Power Plant - Kardzhali and ITW - company for production of packaging machines. Interesting for them were the Observatory in Kardzhali also the Historical Museum, the Church of the Assumption, the Thracian complex Tatul , the archaeological complex Perperikon.

The program of stay of the guests from Latvia was included Bulgarian language training.

Beneficiaries in the project participated in a seminar on "Partnership in education", which was organized by PGEE. The seminar also included a group from France, for which PGEE was receiving partner on attendant activity eTwinning. There were presented the education systems of Latvia, France and Bulgaria, and schools partners as well.

During their stay was achieved full adaptation of the group to culture and to life in Kardzhali. Contacts were established between the Bulgarian, Latvian and French youth.

At the end of the stay the beneficiaries were granted with certificates for language learning.

PROJECT “PARTNERSHIP IN EDUCATION”

In early April, ten teachers from PGEE visited the city Frittslar, Germany. They participated in a working group with colleagues from a vocational school ''Reichsprasident-Friedrich-Ebert-Schule" by the project "Partnership in education" on program Leonardo da Vinci. In this school educate for professions similar to those at PGEE, which makes them good and promising partner. The hosts were provide varied program, including introducing a vocational education in Germany; presenting a system of vocational education in Bulgaria, visit and discuss on education courses in vocational training in the branches of the school in Frittslar and Homberg. Frittslar is a small town in province Hessen, not far from Kassel, where are the plants of "Folksfagen”. There, the school has a training center, which was visited from the Bulgarian teachers.

As a result of joint work colleagues are introduced in detail the characteristics of the dual system of vocational education - an extremely interesting system directed to the practical training of the students. This system provide within the working week training be divided in two: three days of work in company and two days in a school, or even four to one. The system is oriented towards the implementation of practical skills. It offers a variety of programs in which education is for two, three and four years in depending of the goals of the students. In this system there is a change on the proportion between learning in school and workplace skills, giving priority to practical training. The exam in the profession takes place by a committee formed by industry chambers. After it’s successfully passing issued Certificate of qualification to different degrees. This depends on the program that the student has chosen.

Teachers from PGEE were particularly impressed by the university system for teacher training. It is generally true that Germany is a country where rules are adopted to comply with, and indeed education is a priority in public policy. Teachers have high social status. To be able to practice this profession is necessary five years university teaching experience and two years at school. Only then makes a state examination.

German partners in this project have expressed readiness to continue the exchange of information and contacts, in turn, prepare a visit to our city, because of creating wonderful and friendly relations.

Within the traditional European weeks of e Twinning, on 29.10. 2009 in Kardzhali took place eTwinning day, together with HRDC. The event was hosted from our school. The seminar was conducted in the ODK children's center and it was attended by teachers and headmasters from Kardzhali and from the region. The event was opened by eng. Petko Kushlev , director of PGEE. eTwinning is part of the "Lifelong Learning" program in the European Commission and provides an opportunity to employees with education and training of children and youth, for collaboration with colleagues from Europe and the implementation of partnership projects through the Internet and ICT. Mr Nikolay Chebotarev is the assistant HRDC responsible for Portal eTwinning, demonstrated to the teachers and headmasters the possibilities of the program, and focused on successful practices in PGEE “Kapitan Petko voyvoda”. From our side, projects in our school were presented by eng. Antoaneta Sendova and eng. Boriana Andreeva. Georgi Dimov, Petko Manolov and Georgi Hristov from the10th grade, told the participants in the forum about their impressions from their work on the project "Electricity without borders", in which we had guests from France last year. The three boys presented themselves excellent and were applauded by all participants. In conclusion, Mr. Kushlev thanked the headmasters and teachers from the region who responded to the call for the workshop, wished them fruitful work and more zeal in seeking partners and implementation of projects - this is not complicated, as is shown by our experience. It is interesting to note that all three projects implemented in the eTwingning portal were awarded with the National Quality Label, the highest award at the national level. These are the projects: "Notification of Partnership" 2007,”ICT in electrical drawing…" 2007-2009, and " Electricity Without Borders” 2007-2009.

Bulgarian - French project "Electricity without borders" - PGEE project partner

In the 2007/08 school year, the project "Electricity without borders" on the sectoral program Comenius, attendant activity eTwinning, was developed by students from the 12th grade speciality “Electrics of industry" in PGEE “Kapitan Petko voyvoda” and students from the Polytechnic liceum "Louis Armand", France. They exchanged knowledge about production, distribution and consumption of electricity in both of their countries. In 2008/09 at work on the project, there were included students from speciality “Computer technics and Technology”. They responded to questions from their French friends, related to consumption and saving electricity. Excellent knowledge of English, of students from the speciality “Computer technics and Technology,” helped for better communication between the young people of both countries. They drew up reports and presentations about the use of wind and solar power for environmental protection , and also a technical dictionary for renewable sources energy in French, English and Bulgarian. The materials were uploaded on the project Twin space and published on the web. French students and their teachers arrived in Kardzhali to familiarize themselves with our school and our students. They visited leading companies in the city, had fun with their Bulgarian friends, and participated in sports competitions. Lifelong friendships were created. eTwinning is an Internet platform for cooperation between schools from different European countries. It helps school collaboration in Europe through the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) provides support, tools and services to facilitate schools in the formation of short-term and long-lasting partnerships in all areas and subjects. eTwinning is an attendant activity to program "Lifelong Learning" in the EU.

In 2007/08 school year the project "ICT in electrical drawing” in line with the sectoral program Comenius, attendant activity eTwinning, was developed by the students from the 12th grade speciality “Electrics of industry" in PGEE “Kapitan Petko voyvoda” and students from the Polytechnic liceum "Louis Armand, France.

The uniqality of this project was the fulfilled connection between students from both countries - like working in a virtual laboratory.

The students from the French vocational school submitted on shared space project a system for regulating temperature and pressure of the sugar syrup. This system is actually operating in the laboratory of the Lycee. It is often used in companies for the manufacture of sugar products not only in France but across Europe. They gave us the principal scheme of the device and its principle of action. Students from PGEE “Kapitan Petko Voyvoda” learned the principle of operation of the device and drew up a principal scheme of the system using specialized software Caddy electrical. With this program they learned to work in Technical drawing classes. They made presentations with the basic steps for drawing the scheme and they have been uploaded to the shared space of the project. It was a very interesting virtual class between two countries.

Our French partners have carried out a second project with students from our school – “Electricity Without Borders”. They managed to find a sponsor and bring the French students to Bulgaria. We were pleased to welcome them with us in April 2009 and to consolidate the friendship, started in eTwinning in real terms.

Students from PGEE master production of energy from renewable and alternative sources in Spain and Germany

To keep pace with modern technologies in PGEE “Kapitan Petko voyvoda”, for the second consecutive year projects related to renewable sources of electricity are being implemented.
The project "European collaboration in vocational education" was developed in line with the objectives of the Lifelong Learning Program. Two group practices were realized during the month of July 2009 for a period of three weeks. The first group - in the city of Jerez, Spain, with the host organization ASOCIACIÓN AMIGOS DE EUROPA LEONARDO DA VINCI, and the second group - in Berlin, Germany, with the host organization Opera Socialis gGmbH. The project implementation improved initial professional knowledge and skills of students at work in a real working environment.

After completion of the practice each student was issued a certificate of Europass Mobility for his stay abroad from the host organization, which will be added to the certificate of graduation of professional education.
The group of students in Spain from PGEE was accommodated in the town of Jerez de la Frontera, Andalucia, not far from the Atlantic Ocean.
They enjoyed a warm and cordial welcome by the host organization. The first day they were invited to the town hall and greeted personally by the mayor. This meeting was also reported in the local press with an extensive report about the already traditional cooperation between the Spanish host organization and our vocational school.
In the three weeks of training the students visited enterprises for wind power station production (Wind Park at Tarifa Area), and for production of photovoltaic systems (enterprise for production of biofuels and solar plant in ABENGOA).
In Germany, for the first year students from PGEE participated in training, but there they were presented extremely well. Their work program included visits to enterprises for the production of electricity from renewable sources - solar, wind and others, and also enterprises for production of photovoltaic and solar panels. They acquainted themselves with their application in industry, way of life and others areas.
Trainees and their hosts were accepted at the Embassy of Bulgaria in Berlin.
At a working meeting with the host organization, Mr. Zimmerman, their representative, proposed a long-term cooperation. It is an invitation addressed to prominent students of the Vocational School of Electrical Engineering and Electronics in Kardzhali for an internship for six months of environmental energy companies in Germany. This opens new doors to students of electronics in the labor market in Europe.

The European collaboration in vocational education project started on 07.07.2008. It was drawn up in conformity with the objectives of the Lifelong Learning Program - through transnational cooperation and experience to improve the quality of vocational education and training, to encourage use of innovative techniques and to disseminate good professional practices in Europe. The project was directed towards young people of the 17-18 age group who were being initially trained in Electrical Engineering and Energetics, and Electronics and Automation. The target groups included 20 students from the School of Electrical Engineering and Electronics of different ethnic backgrounds (Bulgarians and ethnic Turks). The project was implemented in two groups during the month of July 2009 for a period of three weeks. The first group practice was implemented in the town of Jerez, Spain with the host organization ASOCIACIÓN AMIGOS DE EUROPA LEONARDO DA VINCI. The second group practice was implemented in the city of Berlin, Germany with the host organization Opera Socialis gGmbH.
European countries direct their efforts towards application development and maintenance of environmental technology for producing electricity. Spain and Germany are leading in this field.

PGEE - international training under Leonardo da Vinci Program in 2008

The Education without borders project was drawn up in conformity with the objectives of the Lifelong Learning Program and was directed towards young people of the 17-18 age group who were being initially trained in Electrical Engineering and Energetics, and Electronics and Automation. Its aims were heightening the attraction and achieving higher levels of quality and innovations in the professional education and European market competitive training. The target group included 20 students from the School of Electrical Engineering and Electronics of different ethnic backgrounds (Bulgarians and ethnic Turks). The project took place as a practice period as of 07.07.2008. The host organization was ASOCIACIÓN AMIGOS DE EUROPA LEONARDO DA VINCI – Spain.
The practice created a close link between the school and the production environment, and it added to and built on the course of training. The students acquired fresh linguistic knowledge, practical skills as well as positive experience from their visit to the host country. This supported their personal development and enhanced their mobility, contributed to building citizenship on the problems of Europe linked to global warming and ecological use of natural resources, and increased the students' knowledge of the culture, lifestyle and traditions of another European state.

Thanks to its active work in the international eTwinning platform, PGEE “Kapitan Petko voyvoda” was the only professional school in Bulgaria which took part in the international seminar on professional development for teachers, held in the capital of Finland - Helsinki on 12-14 April 2007. The workshop enabled the links between teachers - project partners to consolidate in real workshops. The seminar was hosted by the Polytechnic College EWTEK. Teachers from professional schools in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden, England, Finland and Bulgaria took part in this event.
